Intensity With Passion

Simple and short, yet far from unemotional or anything. Simply a piano and some drums for a minute. Or maybe not so simply, because the drums are pretty hectic. Yet, once again, totally listenable. The piano, however, is as simple as it gets. Still beautiful. That being said, I think the song is fine as a short interlude.

For All Intents and Purposes

Strings enter with cracks in them. A broken violin? Drums bring about a different tempo than I expected for some reason. Same muffled drums. Not necessarily bad. Then instrument I can't put my finger on, but sounds fantastic and slightly unexpected. Song is double-fast. Once drums come in, the song feels sped up. Song is calm despite the speed. A little boring, but feels nice.

Not-So Humble Beginnings...

If These Mistakes 2 is your masterpiece sculpture, this is the blueprint. Drums at the beginning surprised me. This is not the Amen Break. Sounds...industrial. In a way, bells/strings sound is almost a little cooler than the piano, if not more emotional. Voice track was nice touch before huge break, which is when the song falls under familiarity, but not in a bad way. String part is fantastic. My favorite part of the song by far. It feels so FINISHED. The sounds are great. Once the drums come in with the strings, I know I have just witnessed a miracle of a DnB song. Which brings me to something I am surprised about:

I like this song better than 2.

There is a remastered version of this one near the top, I don'/t know if you're going through all of my songs but i'm going through all of your reviews. Definitely made my month a crap ton better.

Raise Your Fists in Defiance

This song doesn't actually hold too much for me, except the feeling it portrays. Riots on streets. Punks. Break THIS. Song is actually kind of calm, especially the use of synths and pads. Melody synth is extremely cool. In a way, drums are a bit run-of-the-mill Amen or otherwise familiar break. The song's production is still fantastic, and the song is far from boring, even if a little too familiar. I can't bring myself to give you lower than an 8 except for Space Blaster.

Museum Music

I do quite like the strings. Sitting in a museum. Not sure what kind of museum. Looking at a piece of art, perhaps a sculpture. Finally understanding its beauty. Drums don't have as much significance as I'd think they would, or maybe even like them to have. This is the first song I actually feel could do fine without. Still, it would probably be less interesting, for the main "melody" isn't exactly active. Downtempo is a good way to describe this. Perhaps downhearted. Yet elegant.

Floating

I am in space. Floating around. I have no home. All these fantastical creatures I meet. I am free. Song starts with out-of-this-world synths with the usual Nubbin drum mark. Muffled drums are usual as always. Song mutes down for a while, perhaps a little too long. Once muting ends, actually a little disappointing, perhaps becuase I was expecting something more along the lines of "Axiom".

Hectic Yet Fully Listenable

Simple tune enters the room. Again starts with simple drum beat. Drum beat evolves into madness. "Madness"? No. Hectic. Hmm. Madness would have no structure. This does. It is almost madness, yet very listenable. Whatever. Piano is nice for this song. Scream gives song background. Once song gets crazy again, the piano is completely fantastic. I wish it went on a little longer before the breakdown. After breakdown continues again. Drums are top notch, although perhaps a little low in quality (intentional?).

nubbinownz responds:

hahaha not intentional at all. This is near the beginnings of my music career. The order from bottom to top on newgrounds is basically a chronological diary of my music.

This was before I knew anything about mixing/ mastering and reprocessing.

A Drummer in a Room Perhaps

Same music-box feel, but different tune. Still a little creepy? Forgotten? Yes. Drums kick in. Or not "kick in", because they are quiet. As if someone was playing a simple beat they just learned in a recording studio, but forgot to turn the volume up. Obviously, in your case, this is intentional however. Suddenly the drummer realizes "Oops, better fix that", turns some dials, and wham, has a louder and more satisfying sound for a while. Suddenly he feels like there isn't enough here. Starts getting a little crazy. Takes some risks. He likes the sound. Starts incorporating the familiar Amen Break. Maybe he realized he was going a little crazy and slowed it down and let the music-box do its thing before he starts again. At 1:56 he's had enough and starts letting his emotions show through crazy drums beats. That's when the song comes out for me. Fantastic job, better than 13a.

Hmm...Creepy..

The music-box-like instrument plays a nostalgic and yet somewhat creepy tune while wandering drums play a straightforward beat. Piano also comes in, somewhat hidden between any other elements. Very calm tune in it's own sense. Not intense and hectic like other DnB, especially your, songs, but doesn't really need to be. That being said, I wasn't really entranced with this song like your others. Still a very good tune.

"The" Nubbin Song?

If I had to associate one song with you, your most popular, most instantly recognizable song, it'd probably be this one. The drums are SO much better and more intense than Space Blaster. Not juxtaposing the two, however, because this song is in a different league. This song has intensity. Emotion. It's fantastic. The piano gives weight to the intense drums without dragging them down. The part at 2:23 almost feels a little random, but slowly folds into perfect familiarity. Not in the "generic" sense, anyway. Then the beautiful piano, and we are finished. Bravo.
