Don't stray away.

Well, first, don't make your descriptions like ads for your songs. But this track is whatever. The sounds are annoying. The bass and hit sounds don't feel right, and the kick lacks something. Really, don't stray away from ambient. I know you don't want to.

TwilightShade responds:

I do enjoy making Ambient tracks, but I also wanted to give techno a shot and see how I could do with it. Right now I'm just kinda experimenting to see what I like and what I can do best, so the styles of my tracks are kinda varying a bit. Thanks for the review though.

And as for the description, I can remove that part; I was kinda in a hurry to get it up so I just BS'd the description, haha,

Switch the name.

The beginning is fantastic. I love it love it love it. It's so amazing. I don't love the beat, but maybe it'll get better...waiting. Nope. I'd like it as an interlude with just the intro, because it's so amazingly well made. I'm sure without the intro the song would have been less of a disappointment, because it's so brilliant, but meh. It's still good. God, I want to steal that intro though. Good job anyway.

ChampionAnwar responds:

Lol, what can I say - It felt right when I did it. However I can understand you.
Thanks for the intro comment, i'm sure you could do something quite similar to that? I'll work on those things for future reference :)

Sparse and Chill

Song has enough sounds, seperated as they may be. And it's very cool/chill, whatever you may like to call it. Beat is simple yet effective, with sparkly and videogame sounds, matched with ethereal strings. The beats go fast, but the song never feels hectic or rushed; always laid-back. Very cool. I like.

Thanks for the review, I'm glad you liked it :)

Epic. All There is to Say.

One look at the length tells me this is going to be a ride. A wild ride. Strings that are epic, soon mixed with a...wind sound. Not sure what. Another reinvention. Chorus sounds. Orchestral. New Nubbin sounds. Reinventing yourself in ways I never thought possible. At about 1:20, reminds me of tiptoeing. Through a dungeon. To find the dragon and save the princess. Maybe. Sounds unsure. Tentative. Many different string parts at a time, but very well mixed. Then comes drums, which also fit very well. Simple beat, consisting of two sounds, but far from simple in its intentions. Then becomes more "real"-sounding, and adds more sounds. Song stays for a while with drums, until they go out for a while. Like a candle. Blown out. Melodic and sorrowful strings, unlike anything else in your collection. Like an epic movie soundtrack. Some use of dissonance, but not much. Just beauty. And elegance. Then the unexpected, yet expected. 5:40 through. Chaos. Madness. Amazing. Crazy fast hectic drums, unlike anything you've ever made. Elegance and chaos, mixed perfectly. Then drums calm down for a while, with the same two sounds as before. Then again as before. I'm telling you, this is fantastic. Then calmer, but not as calm as before. Still 16th notes. Still fits perfectly. Building tension. Pause. Hectic again. Perfect. Then calm after the storm, just as before. This is the new Nubbin, folks. Enjoy him while he's here, because soon he'll be running off into the world of IDM again, blowing your world apart.

oh you.. OH YOU <3 <3 Love you robert!

Nothing lasts forever

Waiting for the end in near sight. Sadly. Piano, damn are you good. Drums sound the same from a lot only...raw. More raw. Less polished. Good, maybe. Glitchy, somewhat. Listenable, very. Piano almost sounds a little unemotional. Staccato. When "real" drums came in, I was surprised. I did not like it at all. Song felt so empty. Needed something else. Then pause. Strings. Piano. Etc. Second time around, drums feel more full. Song seems better. Still, one of my least favorite songs so far. Of course, with you, there's no such thing, or even near it, as a bad song. Close to 6 *gasp*.

nubbinownz responds:

Thanks a bunch man, I'm really enjoying these reviews. They are definitely helping me out here. Being able to come back from a rough day and just read some good review through all of my songs has meant alot.

Not-So Humble Beginnings...

If These Mistakes 2 is your masterpiece sculpture, this is the blueprint. Drums at the beginning surprised me. This is not the Amen Break. Sounds...industrial. In a way, bells/strings sound is almost a little cooler than the piano, if not more emotional. Voice track was nice touch before huge break, which is when the song falls under familiarity, but not in a bad way. String part is fantastic. My favorite part of the song by far. It feels so FINISHED. The sounds are great. Once the drums come in with the strings, I know I have just witnessed a miracle of a DnB song. Which brings me to something I am surprised about:

I like this song better than 2.

nubbinownz responds:

There is a remastered version of this one near the top, I don'/t know if you're going through all of my songs but i'm going through all of your reviews. Definitely made my month a crap ton better.

Hectic Yet Fully Listenable

Simple tune enters the room. Again starts with simple drum beat. Drum beat evolves into madness. "Madness"? No. Hectic. Hmm. Madness would have no structure. This does. It is almost madness, yet very listenable. Whatever. Piano is nice for this song. Scream gives song background. Once song gets crazy again, the piano is completely fantastic. I wish it went on a little longer before the breakdown. After breakdown continues again. Drums are top notch, although perhaps a little low in quality (intentional?).

nubbinownz responds:

hahaha not intentional at all. This is near the beginnings of my music career. The order from bottom to top on newgrounds is basically a chronological diary of my music.

This was before I knew anything about mixing/ mastering and reprocessing.

Sup fella

I'm from FFR too. You probably don't know me. The song's actually maybe a tiny bit bland but still really cool. Gets better at like 2:00 or so.
Cool song!

Pyroshock responds:

Thanks for the review!

I can agree with you on the bland part, I think I made the song too long and repetitive

And actually I do know you, you said you were going to try making a simfile for my song Dreaming. Haha
