The Lonely Wanderer

The song's piano. You're probably going to be expecting a cynical review from me, saying that you always do the same thing over and over again. But no. Same instrument? Sure. But this is....this is something different. The piano feels different. When strings and winds come in, I know you have reinvented yourself. Then guitars. Then more guitar, low, bassy. Tremolo, whatever. This is far and beyond most songs. At first I thought this was going to be without drums. Not true. Wouldn't be a great Nubbin song. Nubbin drumming is at their best here. For a little while. Then back to before. Fantastic. Fantastic. Fantastic. Fantastic. I could say it all day but I have a feeling you know what I think of this song.

Nothing lasts forever

Waiting for the end in near sight. Sadly. Piano, damn are you good. Drums sound the same from a lot only...raw. More raw. Less polished. Good, maybe. Glitchy, somewhat. Listenable, very. Piano almost sounds a little unemotional. Staccato. When "real" drums came in, I was surprised. I did not like it at all. Song felt so empty. Needed something else. Then pause. Strings. Piano. Etc. Second time around, drums feel more full. Song seems better. Still, one of my least favorite songs so far. Of course, with you, there's no such thing, or even near it, as a bad song. Close to 6 *gasp*.

Thanks a bunch man, I'm really enjoying these reviews. They are definitely helping me out here. Being able to come back from a rough day and just read some good review through all of my songs has meant alot.

Full

The same as other for first part. Obviously. I find to be a cool song. Guitar-8bitty sound is very cool. Mixed with drums; awesome combo.
I almost considered giving a lower rating until the guitar at the end, which was really cool. But too high-pitched. Annoying. Nice song.

Soldier

Epic strings. Playing for the lone soldier home from battle. Medal of honor on the chest. Don't like the name. Doesn't fit. More calm drums than usual. Playing mostly normal beat. Still syncopated, obviously. But somewhat predictable. In a good way. Then back to strings. Focus in on their layers of sound. Then comes our Nubbin. "Our". The one we know. Drums don't feel extra-satisfying. But maybe better that way, for if they overtook the strings, the song would be lost. Strings take the front row again. Perhaps drums are PTSD for the soldier. Memories of awful, bloody battles. He wants to die. Leave the memories. Then ends.

Wobbles

"Wobbly" sounds. A table with two legs. On the edge of tipping. Back to Nubbin. Tapping sounds. A boy tapping with his fingers on the edge of a table. Then, fragile chaos. The table breaks. The boy starts tapping madly. Drums everywhere. Guitar-y sound. Soloing. Everyone "doing their own thing". More Nubbin-like. Or at least what I have learned. Ends abruptly. But satisfying.

Forgotten

Music box again. Now sounds different; more memorable. Better. Tune isn't exactly ideal for me. Known piano comes in. Emotional, but maybe starting to get tiresome. Guitar sound. Industrial somewhat drums. Guitar sound feels nervy. Not my favorite. Drums are professional as always. Then back to piano we all know. And love. Maybe. For what now. By the end I now realize what this is. Time To Go Home brought a change in Nubbin. No more hardcore hectic climaxes. Calmer. Less fierce. A little less interesting. Still top-knotch. It's not the climax that gave this a 7 (still good). It's the fact that I still wanted more.

Now We May Go

Strings in space. The piano that enters is quite awesome. The strings feel a little lacking. Drums are okay for the moment. What will happen. That's what your songs are made of. Anticipation. And release. Syncopated beat is extremely cool. Breaks the anticipation. Unexpected. Song gets halfway through. What's happening. This isn't climaxing yet. Where are the drums. Where is the life. Where have you gone. Question marks. Not knowing. Anticipation. Waiting. I still haven't been blown out of the water. Then, realization. This is the song. The song is made up of anticipation. Realization? Let down. A little bit. A little more boring but a little better on second listen. You sure do know how to switch it up.

Not Ready to Leave

Piano. Emotional as always. Something else. FX. Sounds like the whisper of the wind on a cold night. We are not leaving. Not quite yet. Piano mixes well with drums at start, because they are both calm. Not bursting out...yet. I must remind you how fantastic the piano is. I could listen to it without the drums for days. Then a murk of sounds. In a good way. Synth, drums, piano, maybe strings. All independent, yet the same. Not a big fan of the sound that enters at 2:39. Ends as it begins.

Empty Spaces

Slow-motion. Empty spaces. Song feels open. Open in space. Open for improvement. Just empty strings; drums. Song then picks up with synth which is excitement for a while. Very good; just what the song needs. Do I still feel the song is empty? Maybe. Who knows. Could be me. Uh-oh 7!

Guitar Lonely

A lone man. Sitting with his guitar. Simple tune. Probably something he "made up". Then ethereal (not sure if that word even fits or makes sense, but the "feel" of the song fits the "feel" of the word so well) strings and drums come with guitar. Perhaps guitar a little offbeat with other instruments. Nothing noticeable, just perhaps. Guitar could also be a lot louder. At some parts, you can't hear individual notes, but just the picking of the string. Song calms down again, and guitar once again takes the front. Then synth+drums combo, always nice. Drums maybe feel a little...repetitive? Still a nice song. Another borderline 8 (with 7).
